100-Miler Hiking Club
&
I Hiked ‘Em All Club

Sponsored by
Friends of South Cumberland State Recreation Area

Have you hiked all the maintained trails in the South Cumberland State Recreation Area (SCSRA)? Or have you hiked your favorite trails at SCSRA so many times that you have done more than 100 miles of hiking there?

If so, you qualify for the “100-Miler” or the “I Hiked ’Em All ” Hiking Clubs, sponsored by the Friends of SCSRA. Qualifying hikers will receive a certificate of membership in the club, two trail map bandannas, and one year’s membership in the Friends of the South Cumberland State Recreation Area.

The South Cumberland trails explore rims, gorges, and forests from near Beersheba Springs in the north to Lost Cove in the south. The Savage Gulf & Stone Door Trails map details the extensive system of trails and landmarks including Greeter Falls, Great Stone Door, Savage Falls, Suter Falls, and Horsepound Falls, which are supervised by the Stone Door and the Savage Ranger Stations. The Fiery Gizzard & Buggytop Trails map includes the Visitor Center on Highway 41 near Tracy City, the Grundy Forest area, Raven Point, Little Gizzard Creek and Foster Falls on one side; and the Buggytop Trail and Lost Cove Cave in Carter State Natural Area between Sewanee and Sherwood on Highway  56 on the reverse side.

Help to Plan Your Hikes

To help you plan your hikes, we’ve prepared a list of 14 day hikes that cover the 81 miles of hiking trails at South Cumberland in just under 120 miles.

Those trails are listed in this Excel file you can download and are described in this PDF document you can download.

Savage Gulf Ranger George Shinn has agreed to advise and mentor the project. Shinn or members of the SCSRA board reserve the right to interview hikers about their experiences on specific trails, and look forward to hearing details about favorite and worst hikes, anecdotes, hiking companions, and personal incidences that hikers would enjoy sharing.

Write us at this email address if you have questions.

How To Join

To apply for membership in either of these hiking clubs, submit your name, address, a copy of your trail list with dates each trail was hiked, and a check or money order for $25, payable to Friends of the SCSRA, to Friends of South Cumberland State Park, 11745 US 41, Monteagle, TN 37356-7609.

Happy Trails!
